Subtraction and Snow White

In English this week we have been focusing on the fairy tale Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The children were introduced to the characters from the story at the beginning of the week. Some children programmed the Beebot to send it from one character to the next. Other children played a bingo game using the characters from the story.

The children have designed their own front covers for the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. They have also created their own mirrors inside, using bubble writing to write 'Mirror, mirror on the wall'.

In Maths we have been exploring subtraction. For the first activity we created a 'magic bus' that would take the children to wherever they wanted to travel. The children enjoyed choosing their destination and constructing each new number sentence when others got off the bus.

The children have worked with a partner to practice subtraction calculations using cubes. They have also solved some simple take away calculations.
